Need proofreader / editor?

Hi,

This is for anyone who wants any kind of editing or proofreading (print) (in English) to be done. I have been involved in proofreading and editing for the past 2 years. Have done my graduation in Journalism, English Literature and Communicative English and I have fairly good grammatical as well as comprehension skills.

Good, quality stuff doesn’t come for free and I too charge for the work I do (which depends on the work). All you need to do is reply to this post. I can do a sample work for you and then if you feel I am good at my work, we can work together!

So, thanks for taking time off to read this post…

Poetry…

Poetry!!! My favourite subject and something I love to talk about…

It could be something ranging from inspiring, soul-stirring, thought-provoking to out-of-the-world romantic poetry; I can fall in love with anything. From Keats and Shelley to Donne to Ezekiel…

Among the Indian poets, my favourite is Harivanshrai Bachchan, who is also the inspiration for my poetry. The metaphysical English poets inspire me too (though I prefer writing in Hindi). I feel my language of expression is Hindi. Bachchan and the metaphysical poets are an inspiration for me because of their metaphors, even Shelley and Keats (who were much beyond the other romantic poets, according to me). The superficial sort of writing is highly unattractive to me, in simple words the straightforward and direct ones. Poetry is beautiful when the poet uses symbols to convey his thoughts and the interpretation of the poems is left to the readers. This gives rise to different interpretations. When you look at certain poets, their works could be taken either at the surface level or by probing into the deeper meaning; it’s completely up to the reader how he/she wants to take it.

Poetry is not just “the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings from emotions recollected in tranquility”, it is the outpour of emotions into words and verses. It is a way of expression, which is not just ornate but can also move the deepest feelings of your heart… at least for me that is what poetry is…

P.S.:- The thoughts expressed above are solely of the author and need not be in consensus with anyone else.

Why me?

Why me???

This is a question most of us ask ourselves lot of times…

You get out of the house, are half-way to your destination and realize you forgot your wallet. You rush back home only to realize you are late to wherever you were headed and think, “S***! Why me?” You fail an examination and realize, “Why me?” You lose someone close to your heart and cry out, “God, why me?”

At lot of points in your life, you must have said this. Now when I think, it seems more like a statement than a question. No one has an answer for that (I haven’t met God so, I don’t know if He would have an answer). It’s more to reiterate that it could have been someone else (would have been better that way!) or to pity that no one else could be facing so much of problems. We never realize that people around us have greater reasons for saying these two words, but still it just keeps coming into our minds.

So, why not think optimistically? Why not try to see that there are a lot of happy events which only we have witnessed or been a part of? So many things which would bring a smile to our faces? Would you then say, “why me?”

Top 5 ways to beat boredom and loneliness out of your life!!!

June 15, 2007 at 7:42 pm | In I,me,myself n my life | 1 Comment

What do you do when you are bored with your work, homesick, friendless, lonely, etc. (yes, all this at the same time!!!)? I tried finding out solutions which are as follows,

1) Join some classes – It could range from music, dance to yoga and pottery (!!!). This would definitely help you break out of a rut and also make use of your free time. Some of it would help you feel relaxed, fit or bring out your “hidden talents”. It would also get you to meet people and might make you “friendful”.

2) Make books your friends (come on you can do that too) – Start reading lot of books. Books which interest you (that doesn’t include raunchy magazines!!!) or which might pull you out of your boredom. Even going to a bookstore and leafing through different books is a good way to pass your time (but it all depends whether you are the booky type). But visiting a bookstore could be a good way to start!!!

3) Browse through job portals (you are bored of your work, aren’t you???) - Find out if there’s something which wouldn’t get you bored too soon. This would boost your morale and make you feel that there are things which might hold your interest in work.

4) Pubs and discs – Catch hold of someone who parties and head for those pubs and discs every weekend. Believe me, it’s a very good stress reliever as well as great socializing grounds!!!

5) Last but not the least (I know it’s cliched) – Find a boyfriend / girlfriend for yourself (choose as applicable). Someone who you can go around with and have fun (see I gave it as the 5th option so don’t blame me!!!). This would not just take away your loneliness completely, it would even take away a lot of other things!!!

Well, the reason I wrote this is that I come in this category, as of now. Lets see which option would work for me!!!
